Honcho Pickleball Leagues utilize the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) system to help categorize players into appropriate skill levels. DUPR is a global rating system that assigns players a rating between 2.0 and 8.0 (<3.0 = beginner, while 4.0+ = advanced) based on match results. It allows players of all ages, genders, and locations to be rated on the same scale.
DUPR helps shape our division guidelines, but exact rating cutoffs aren’t strictly applied. Some players may have limited rating history or may play above or below their listed DUPR. A bit of variation within divisions is normal, and we ask players to register in good faith to help keep matchups competitive and respectful.
Understanding the fundamental rules of pickleball and accurately assessing your skill level across the four listed divisions are essential for a fun and enjoyable playing experience.
DUPR or the “Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating” is the most accurate and only globally-recognized rating system in pickleball. All players, regardless of their age, gender, location, or skill, are rated on the same scale ranging between 2.0 and 8.0 based on submitted match results to DUPR’s platform. This system ensures a fair and competitive environment for all participants.
At Honcho, we have a direct relationship with DUPR and offer the ability for Honcho League match results to be uploaded to DUPR so you can bolster your rating, clearly track your skill development week over week, and ensure you’re signed up for the right skill division each season.
Understanding Honcho skilll-set divisions and accurately assessing your skill level will enhance your experience in the Honcho Pickleball League. We look forward to seeing you on the courts!
